The Deltec 6000i protein skimmer is operated with two of the 24V Deltec DCC 5 pumps that can be electronically adjusted with the included ten stage controllers. This allows the water flow and air input to be optimised to the specific requirements of the aquarium. The pump can be slowed to allow a longer dwell time inside the unit for lightly stocked aquariums or increased to suit well stocked aquariums. The DCC 5 pumps can generate 1900 liters per hour of air each using only 43w of power.Ergonomic cylinder shape
Thanks to the ergonomic cylinder body shape, the Deltec 6000i protein skimmer ensures the best skimming results. The shape of the skimmer does not taper or narrow towards the top. This results in the small air bubbles being able to rise unhindered, allowing them to become fully saturated with organics, only bursting in the riser tube inside the collection cup. This body design also allows for the footprint of the protein skimmer to be as compact as possible allowing it to be neatly installed in most sumps.Internal body design
The body design includes two internal diffusers to ensure minimum turbulance in the body. The first is on the outlet of the pump to disperse direct water flow from the pump and the second difusser plate dampens strong water movement, as the air/water mix is released in to the body. This allows the fine bubbles to rise slowly undisturbed in the main reaction chamber maximising the contact with organics without restricting the power of the pumps. The DCC5 DC pumps are suspended from the seporator plate in the body to reduce the chance of vibration transmission and therefore reduce noice.Toolless maintenance
Due to waste accumulation and calcium carbonate build up protein skimmers need to be cleaned periodically to maintain peak performance.Deltec have incorporated a quick toolless system for dismantling the skimmer and removing the pump. In tests Deltec have been able to remove a pump for cleaning in less than 20 seconds. The skimmer body can be fully dismantled easily and quickly to allow for easy maintenance, less time spent maintaining equipment and more time to enjoy your aquarium.
The sensor on the DDATO has different light colours and patterns to warn of faults or show its status.
Flashing blue and red LED. The unit has been powered on and it is going through its startup process.
Flashing blue LED. A low water level has been detected and the top up unit is operating the pump to refill with fresh water.
Short intermitting blinking blue LED. The waterlevel is above the failsafe sensor and the unit has been temporarily deactivated. When the water level returns to below the emergncy sensor the unit will return to normal operation. The failsafe sensor can be activated after each top up on nano aquariums, this is normal and no action needs to be taken.
Solid Blue LED. The top up unit is in normal standby mode.
Flashing red LED. Alarm mode has been activated. The unit has detected an issue and or the freshwater reservoir is empty.
Why is my D+D ATO sensor light red
A red light on the sensor can indicate one of these things.
The sensor's inbuilt emergency shut-off timer has been activated
When the unit performs its first top-up after being powered on it will store the time taken in its memory. If for any reason the top-up unit is activated for longer than 6 times this the sensor will assume there is a problem or that the freshwater reservoir is empty, shut down and show the red warning light.
Corrective action to set the ATO back into normal operation mode and clear the alarm status, power the unit down from the mains plug socket for a few seconds and then power it back up. The sensor should flash red/blue a few times as it reinitialises and then returns to normal operation mode with a solid blue status light.
The sensor is detecting a fault with the ATO pump.
If the pump cannot run the sensor may go into alarm mode and turn off power to the pump. If this is the situation you will notice that when the top-up activates the pump will not turn on and the status light will immediately show red and not flash blue until time out occurs.
Corrective action:_Disconnect the unit from mains power, check that the connector where the power lead and pump plug-in has not become wet and that the impellor in the pump is clean and free to move.
The freshwater reservoir is empty or the sensor is impaired
No water in the reservoir or microbubbles in the water are causing issues with the sensor detecting the water level. Check that the sensor is not in an area where it is subject to small bubbles, eg near the outlet from a skimmer.
Corrective action: If this has occurred check that the sensor is clean, the impellor in the pump is clean and free to move, the freshwater reservoir is not empty, and there is nothing that could be causing the sump water level to fall unexpectedly.
