Reptiles are ectotherm, and use heat from an external source to thermoregulate their optimal body temperature. Most reptiles use direct radiant heat from the sun in combination with conductive heat from sun-heated surfaces such as branches, rocks or other heat accumulating structures. Providing such an appropriate, species related, temperature gradient in the terrarium is an important factor in successful reptile keeping. With the Exo Terra 600W Thermostat with Day/Night Timer & Dual Receptacles you can create a well-controlled 24-hour heating system that allows you to maintain the required temperature conditions similar to those found in a desert or tropical environment.

Both the daytime and nighttime temperatures can be set and controlled individually to guarantee safe daytime-nighttime temperature fluctuations for your reptiles. The Dual Receptacles allow you to control 2 separate heating devices, 1 during daytime, 1 during night-time (for instance: 1 incandescent heat bulb during daytime & 1 Heat Mat during night-time). The Thermostat will also help to prevent overheating and undercooling during hot summer days or cold winter nights. The Dimming & Pulse Proportional function keeps the temperature at the desired set-point with a much higher accuracy than conventional thermostats and virtually eliminates temperature swings in the terrarium. The easy-to-read LCD screen shows heating mode, day or night mode and actual & set temperature. A Red LED and a heating symbol will indicate when the heating device is powered. Once the set temperature is reached, the LED will switch to Blue and the heating symbol will no longer show. Simply connect your Heat Mat, Heat Cable, Ceramic Heater or Incandescent Heat Bulb to the Exo Terra Day/Night Thermostat, set the preferred daytime and nighttime temperatures and place the heat sensor in the desired spot. The push button/dial system of the thermostat will prevent accidental changes of the set temperature if the device is being handled. The Thermostat comes with a 6.2 foot / 190cm power-cord with grounded plug & receptacle for increased safety and to allow the use of a power outlet strip. The waterproof remote sensor can be safely used in highly moist terrariums and aquatic environments.

Exo Terra Thermostat Pulse Proportional Setting
The Pulse Proportional setting of our Exo Terra Thermostats is the most accurate temperature control setting for use with non-visible light emitting heat sources. Instead of switching the power ON and OFF, like bimetallic and Electronic ON/OFF Thermostats do, the Pulse Proportional setting sends the electrical current in proportionate pulses to the heating element. The pulses vary in duration and frequency depending on the temperature increase that is needed. For instance, when the heating element is first switched on, the pulses will be longer and more frequent until the set temperature is reached. Once the set temperature is reached, the pulses will become shorter and less frequent in order to maintain a perfectly stable temperature. The Pulse Proportional Setting virtually eliminates temperature swings in the terrarium.

Exo Terra Thermostat Dimming Setting
The Dimming Setting of our Exo Terra Thermostats a very accurate temperature control setting that allows the use of visible light emitting heat sources. Instead of switching the power ON and OFF, like bimetallic and Electronic ON/OFF Thermostats do, the Dimming setting literally dims the electrical current sent to the heating element. The Dimming setting gradually increases and dims the electrical current sent to the heating element depending on the temperature increase that is needed. For instance, when the heating element is first switched on, the electrical current sent to the heating element will gradually increase until the set temperature is reached. Once the set temperature is close to being reached, the Thermostat will dim the electrical current sent to the heating element in order to maintain a perfectly stable temperature. The Dimming Setting virtually eliminates temperature swings in the terrarium.

Ideal for use with all visible light emitting heat sources (like Exo Terra’s Intense Basking Spot, Daylight Basking Spot, Daytime Heat Lamp, Infrared Basking Spot or Night Heat Lamp). Can also be used with all non-visible light emitting heat sources (like Exo Terra’s Heat Mat, Heat Cable or Ceramic Heater)
