Recommended Care Instructions for the Flipper Aquarium Mat

1. Cleaning

Rinse regularly. A quick rinse under warm water and a gentle wipe with a soft cloth or sponge is usually enough.

For stubborn residue. Try soaking the mat in a mild solution—one user recommended vinegar with hot water for ten minutes—then rinse thoroughly.

No harsh cleaners. Avoid detergents, bleach, or harsh chemicals. These can damage the material or leave unsafe residues.

2. Drying

Let it air dry. After cleaning or rinsing, leave the mat out of direct sunlight until fully dry before storing or placing it back down.

No extreme heat. It’s smart to avoid placing the mat near heat sources or in environments above 100 °F—high temps could cause warping or degrade the material over time.

3. Use & Maintenance

Watch for grit. If you use this mat while cleaning or servicing your tank, be mindful of sand or grit that could get trapped beneath it—this might scratch aquarium surfaces if transferred later.

Inspect regularly. Look for signs of wear or damage—fraying edges, tears, or surface deterioration. Replace the mat if you notice any issues.

4. Storage Tips

Keep away from harsh chemicals. Store in a clean, dry place where it won’t be exposed to cleaning agents or solvents.

Store flat or loosely rolled. Avoid sharp folds or creases to maintain the mat’s shape.

5. Frequency Guidelines

Quick wipe: After each use or when dirty.

Deep clean (soak): Once a week, or as needed depending on spills or buildup.

Replace: If the mat shows significant wear, deterioration, or loses its non-slip qualities.

Certain orders over £50 qualify for free mainland UK (excludes Northern Ireland, Pond Plants, and livestock) delivery which will arrive within 3-5 working days of the order being processed.

Orders Below £50 in Mainland UK will be charged a standard delivery fee of £5.99.

Pond Plant and Tropical/Marine/Pond Livestock will be charged a delivery fee of £19.99.
